Our environmental and sustainability work
Our goal: Net zero emissions
We have set clear and ambitious climate targets. Our goal is to reach net zero emissions for Scope 1 and 2 by 2030 - and for the entire value chain, Scope 3 - by 2045.
Our entire organisation, in all functions and at all levels, is committed to working towards a climate-neutral Bauer Media Outdoor. Our sustainability work permeates the entire organisation and is a central part of how we develop our infrastructure and our offering.
Our climate reporting is done annually according to the GHG protocol, verified by an external party and forms the basis for our continuous improvements. It is proof that we take responsibility - for our impact, for our role in society and for future generations. Through our efforts, we also want to inspire and support our customers, partners and municipalities in their climate work.

Some examples of investments and strategic measures on the path to net zero.
Scope 1: Our vehicle fleet
We operate in the heart of cities – where people live their lives. That is why we have chosen to avoid gasoline and diesel. Today, 100% of our vehicle fleet is hybrid or electric, and we aim to be fully electrified by 2030. We are convinced that every journey can be made more sustainable – and every step towards electric power is a step closer to our goal.
Scope 2: Electricity from renewable sources
- All electricity we purchase for our offices, warehouses, and our own premises comes from 100% renewable sources.
- We engage in active dialogue with our lease partners to ensure that their electricity contracts also contribute to the transition. When we cannot verify the origin of the electricity, we purchase Guarantees of Origin to ensure that it is green.
- To reduce our energy consumption, we are also investing in new technology. We are gradually replacing incandescent bulbs with LEDs in our classic advertising signs and street furniture. So far, we have upgraded 10% of our signs, which has resulted in up to a 60% reduction in emissions per sign.
- In 2024, we also installed eight new charging stations at our distribution center in Länna as part of our efforts to support our electrified vehicle fleet.
Scope 3: Climate-smart material choices
Paper
Our Adshel posters are printed on paper from Arctic Paper, produced in Grycksbo, Dalarna. It has up to 90% lower climate impact than traditional recycled paper.
All our Adshels and classic billboards are printed using green electricity, which minimizes emissions in the production process.
Waste and material selection
99.99% of our waste avoids landfill.
We strive to minimize our waste – and to take responsibility for what we do generate. Already today, 99.99% of our waste goes to recycling or reuse, not to landfill.
Since 2020, we have increased the waste sorting rate at our warehouse in Länna by a full 91.96%. This is the result of determined efforts involving new routines, clearer sorting, and increased knowledge among our employees.

Ultra-pure water
We wash our advertising signs and street furniture with ultra-pure water – a method that is both effective and gentle on the environment.
Ultra-pure water is over 100 times cleaner than ordinary tap water. It consists solely of H₂O – without salts, metals, or contaminants – which gives the water low surface tension and thus dissolves dirt more easily without the need for chemicals. The method is not only environmentally friendly, but also healthy for our employees who work outdoors in the urban environment every day.
Sustainable materials
We actively work to choose materials with low climate impact in our products and solutions.
- Our glass signs contain 37% recycled glass
- Our weather covers contain recycled aluminum, which reduces their carbon footprint by 22%
- We have introduced 100% recyclable weather protection, equipped with solar-powered lighting
We make these choices to create an urban environment that both works and feels better – today and tomorrow.
Our commitments and certifications
- Since 2013, our environmental management system has been certified according to ISO 14001 and covers our entire Swedish operations.
- Our quality management system has been certified according to ISO 9001 since 2013.
- Since 2021, we have been affiliated with the UN Global Compact, the world's largest initiative for corporate responsibility, and actively work based on its principles in human rights, labor law, the environment, and anti-corruption.
- In 2024, our climate targets were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This means that our net-zero targets are now scientifically based and in line with a 1.5 °C warming trajectory – a major and important step in our sustainability journey.
